This Chronicle uses the 20th Anniversary rules for Werewolf the Apocalypse as the base with a couple of modifications to suit our playstyle.
The first and most important is the removal of the Renown System. We’ve replaced it with a Walking Path system for Garou/Kinfolk to learn Gifts from. That is explained in more detail on its own page.
Concepts for play should take into consideration that the setting is based mostly in a small town, with small-town secrets. This Chronicle isn’t about going to War with the Wyrm, it’s about Garou trying to build an actual life for their kind. While there are nasty things to destroy and spirits to face, combat is a distant second to roleplay.
Creation is standard for beginning characters with the following changes:
- Lupus characters are only allowed with Karma (meaning first-time players cannot access them).
- Red Talons are banned.
- Fianna, Shadow Lords, Black Furies, and Stargazers have no real tribal support, and very few (if any) Kinfolk are present in town. So they will be more challenging to play and are not recommended for newer players.
- Get of Fenris, Glass Walkers, and Silver Fangs comprise most of the town’s population. Usually referred to as “townies” they form the foundation of the modern Garou. These tribes receive Persuasion for free from the town’s totem for as long as they reside there.
- Bone Gnawers & Children of Gaia have formed a thriving Mennonite Community close to town. They live simply, maintaining farms on the outskirts and providing a place for the few Lupus who exist to learn how to function without too many Weaver distractions. These tribes receive the Scent of Sweet Honey for free from the Community’s totem for as long as they reside in the area.
- Silent Striders, Wendigo, and Uktena reside mostly on the reservation land surrounding the town and the National Park. They have contracts with the Glass Walkers to maintain their casinos, and the Striders often act as messengers between the camps. These tribes receive Camouflage for free from their local totem for as long as they reside nearby.
