Repulsion
- Level: 3
- Special Requirements: If using this on another person, something that belongs to them.
- Casting Time: 10 Minutes (for a room) or 10 Seconds (if only targeting a single person)
- Cost: 1 WP
- Rolls: Manipulation + Fascination or Casting (diff 7) & Fascination or Thaumaturgy + Power (diff 7)
- Effects: Twisting the usual “come-hither” feeling that Fascination induces, this spell lashes out with feelings of disgust and anxiety to force people to not want to be near the user (or the user’s target). It is subtle: people just feel gross, or self-conscious to the point they need some air or just to get out of the vicinity.
- Marginal = People start to get cranky but don’t really start moving away without other factors at play.
- Complete = They won’t know why, but they just don’t want to be in that area anymore. Anyone with less than a 3 Self-Control will seek to leave immediately.
- Exceptional = This will clear a room pretty quickly. Anyone with less than a 4 Self-Control will seek to leave quickly. And others will look for excuses to follow.
- This can be focused quickly on a single individual and requires a display of intimidation. This can be spitting at them, hurling vocal curses, or just flipping them off, but the caster must have their full attention. In this case, the victim must make a Courage roll at diff (5 + success tiers) to remain in the caster’s presence.
- Notes: As with most Fascination spells, this is not likely to work on anyone possessing Dementation, Dominate, or Presence. They can choose to ignore a success tier for each dot in the Discipline they possess. They will, however, be aware of its source.
Resonate
- Level: 2
- Casting Time: 1 Minute
- Cost: 1 WP
- Rolls: Wits + Empathy or Casting (diff 6)
- Effects: Each stage of success decreases the difficulty of the next expression or intimidation roll by 1 as the caster pushes forth their raw emotion into the space around them.
- Side-Effects: First is the introduced resonance to the area, which by itself is nothing, but it could be used to shift the crowd. A botch causes the caster to burn out on the emotion in question for a while and causes a +1 difficulty to the character’s next 3 Empathy rolls.
- Notes: Duration is always within the scene, and range is always a line of sight.
That Song
- Level: 1
- Special Requirements: The user must hum, sing, or whistle part of the tune to be implanted.
- Casting Time: Ten Seconds
- Cost: None
- Rolls: Manipulation + Fascination or Casting (diff 5)
- Effects: This simple spell just plants the suggestion of a song in a target’s head. For as long as the spell lasts the target will have the effect of the song being stuck in their head and they will find themselves singing, humming, or generally trying to get it out of their mind when not focusing on anything else. It will not distract them in any way from anything important.
- Side-Effects: Botching this gets the most annoying song you can think of stuck in your head instead.
- Notes: Duration is based on using Manipulation + Power (diff 5). The range is always “within hearing” for this spell. Like most Fascination Spells, anyone possessing Dominate, Presence, or Dementation can choose to brush off the effects of this magic.
